 Over the next 2 decades, New York City’s senior population is expected to grow by 50%. And our seniors are healthier and more active than ever. As Chair of the Aging Committee, Jessica is leading the charge to make NYC a more age-friendly city - for both active and homebound older New Yorkers.  Jessica graduated from Stuyvesant High School and is passionate about public education. Last term, she personally oversaw the approval of over 20,000 public school seats across the city and was instrumental in opening multiple new schools on the East Side.  At a time when reproductive freedom is under attack all across America, Jessica has been recognized by the New York Times for writing landmark legislation to protect women's health and their right to choose.  Even in tough times, the City Council has passed budgets that are on-time and balanced. Jessica is a member of the Budget Negotiating Team and has worked to balance the budget in a responsible way that protects core services, especially for the most vulnerable New Yorkers.  Jessica has been recognized by advocates as “one of the leading environmental lights on the City Council”, due to her success in passing recycling laws and securing funding for new waterfront parks in Manhattan.  NYC is the safest large city in America. And Jessica has fought to keep New Yorkers safe from crime and terrorism– in their homes, on the sidewalks, and in their neighborhoods.
